Please note: The silver carbon steel bands wrapped around the barrel are slightly rusted for an authentic antique look. These bands will continue to rust when exposed to the elements and turn a lovely copper patina.

The Smartware Half Whiskey Barrel Planter - Set of 2 pairs the rustic look of a wood whiskey barrel with the environmental benefits and lasting quality of resin. These durable, uniquely designed planters have the look of real wood, but are made from an eco-friendly component blend that reduces landfill materials. Unbreakable and weatherproof, they withstand mildew, rot, drying, and splintering. Their solid, thick walls will withstand freezing, thawing and heating, yet the planters weigh one-third the weight of a comparably-sized wooden barrel. Feet keep the bottom raised to prevent surface staining, and each planter features indented drainage knock-outs. Ideal for water gardens, ice, kegs and dirt as well as plants, they're the perfect addition to gardens, patios, or any outdoor spaces.

      I bought four of them. I lacquer the metal bands before I put the soil in the planters. I figured that it would help to prevent rust in the future. These are great barrels. Just what I was looking for.
